Rebbe Nachman–Likutei Maharan 36

Bad does not emanate from HaShem, as it is written (Eicha, 3), “From the mouth of the Supreme One, bad does not emanate.” The blessing and the curse occur by the person in accordance with the vessel that he provides, as it is written, “Behold, I place before you the blessing and the curse…” – specifically “before you”! This is so because from HaShem emanates a unified light, i.e. unified letters. The letters are arranged according to the person: If the person is good, then the arrangement is a source of blessing, and if not, the opposite occurs

מֵאִתּוֹ לֹא תֵּצֵא הָרָעוֹת, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב (אֵיכָה ג): “מִפִּי עֶלְיוֹן לֹא תֵצֵא הָרָעוֹת: הַבְּרָכָה וְהַקְּלָלָה נַעֲשֶׂה אֵצֶל הָאָדָם, כְּפִי הַכְּלִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ. כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב: “רְאֵה אָנֹכִי נוֹתֵן לִפְנֵיכֶם בְּרָכָה וּקְלָלָה”, “לִפְנֵיכֶם” דַּיְקָא. כִּי מִלִּפְנֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ – בָּרוּךְ – הוּא יוֹצֵא אוֹר פָּשׁוּט, הַיְנוּ אוֹתִיּוֹת פְּשׁוּטִים, וּלְפִי הָאָדָם כֵּן נַעֲשֶׂה הַצֵּרוּף. אִם הוּא אָדָם טוֹב, נַעֲשֶׂה צֵרוּף שֶׁל בְּרָכָה. וְאִם לָאו, לְהֵפֶךְ.
